These are the snacks I bought for our upcoming road trip:
This is what they look like after I used my scale to put each portion in individual snack bags:
They all fit neatly back into their bag/box and are ready to go. It's so much easier than doling out handful after handful and waaaay cheaper than buying them in the "snack size". So there, I am a nerd, a kitchen scale using kind of nerd.
OK, I'll also admit that I did the math on the number of servings that come in each box so I know exactly how much each person gets, even down to the food I am bringing to the cabin. They may have this snack X number of times per week and that snack X number of times per week.
Hey, don't knock it until you have to travel with four hungry children and stay away from home for three weeks.
We need to make this food last people.

Ooh! I LOVE this idea!!! Definitely something I think I would do!!! You are being a good steward! It's great! Plus, it teaches the kiddos not to over-indulge either... because they have a set amount to eat. Great job... nerd! ;) Just kidding!
Now you know why I 'counted out' snack portions. Someone always felt like they were getting less than someone else. Of course we all know who that 'someone' was! I won't say any names.
Way to go nerd. Love you, mom
Amen sister! I too am a scale nerd so no judgement here : )
You are AWESOME! I'm cracking up that you found a way for your scale to add to the vacation experience:) My mom does that on trips - the little individual bags for each person part - she hasn't yet done the scale part. I love this post! LOL!
Obsessive compulsive much? Or should I say, HAYS much?
So using a food scale makes me a nerd. I thought it made us cool?
I do that all the time so Lucy doesn't grab to much! I LOVE Annie's!
