Africa here we come!

Not sure I've mentioned in the past, but Ashlynnie's curriculum this year has her visiting each continent in the world. We learn some super fun and unique facts about the land, the animals, the people and their culture. So far we have "visited" North America, South America, Europe and currently are in Africa.

What an amazing continent! It boast the world's largest animal, the world's fastest animal, the world's tallest animal and the world's largest burrowing animal.

We have explored the dessert, the jungle and the savanna and decided we must visit Kenya at some time in our lives. The kids put together a picture of what the savanna looks like to them, here are there creations:

From sick to sunshine.

From this on Valentine's day:

To this (this morning with our 70+ degree forecast today!):

Our little girl still has the sniffles and coughs, but it was good to see her swinging with brother this morning on the "star cruiser". With the black boots, she looked like an old man out of the 1800's with long underwear on. I love the expression on Gage's face in these shots, the kids loves to swing while making it look death-defying!

Now please, sickies go away and sunshine come to stay!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Second only to Christmas, this is our favorite holiday around here. We always start the morning off with heart shaped pancakes topped with strawberries. Unfortunately, Ashlynn, Gage and Addie have terrible colds this morning, but they managed to eat a few pancakes anyway!

We are going to attempt a craft later....if the coughing and runny noses permit.

Sledding fun!

Randy, the kids and I spent the afternoon sledding at his parents the other day. They have an awesome hill on their property and with all of the snow this year, we've had quite the sledding adventures!

Our Packer fans getting ready to head down the hill!

Ryde and I loved the saucers...and going down backwards!

Gage only wanted to ride with Randy or I.....and he loved every minute of his "free" ride back up the hill!

Can you see I'm trying to slow down, I forgot how intimidating going down the hill the first time is....

We couldn't resist making a snowman!

Not sure what Ashlynn was thinking, but I love her pose!

By the end of the day, Ashlynn had mastered the art of sledding down the hill on her bum!
We are in the clear with no snow predicted for a while, but I'm sure we'll get one last run at that hill........

If you get a chance.

Randy was logged on to blog yesterday, and, after walking away from the computer, found that Ashlynn had written up his post for him. I love that he didn't edit it one bit and published it just as Ashlynn wrote, check it out here.

I think I know who will guest post for me soon......

Organizing, Day 4-6

My organizing continued through the weekend and I completely the entire main floor including the laundry room, bathroom, school room, entry and coat closet. Here are a few shots:

The school room before (Addie had taken most of the books out):

So maybe dust helps with creativity:

Nicely organized now:

The bookshelf, making a whole lot more sense to us:

Here are some from the kitchen "after":
